27/09/2008 - Ringworld
Ringworld is today's addition. It's quite odd to have, eh, borrowed voh's review a day or so after saying I don't like the idea of other contributors on TAB (or I guess it's just AB now...), but I always have special exceptions, and this is one of them.
Well, I have a couple of games to review, but I can't say when they will be done... So for now... Bye.

25/09/2008 - Alien Legacy
Alien Legacy has been added today. It is a most excellent game in my not particularly humble opinion, so you should probably grab it if you don't already have it, which is quite likely seeing as not that many people I know have played it.
Not much more I can say today. Hopefully another update tomorrow.

24/09/2008 - Oops
I messed up a tad and uploaded the French/Spanish version of DreamWeb instead of the proper manly English version. This has been fixed now, though I apologise profusely for the inconvenience, and my heartfelt gratitude goes out to Rik of A Force For Good for pointing that out to me. Cheers, matey.
This wasnt the intended update for today (and some apologies for not updating the last few days - had job interviews and had some winemaking and drinking to do), but at least I'm having no more difficulties with what I was having difficulties with and hopefully that should be up tomorrow, and I think I have enough updates to last me until Sunday, which I think I will have to take as a day off from all this updating business.
So there.

20/09/2008 - SEAL Team
Today I have added SEAL Team. I would mention that it's the full CD version, but since it's just shovelware, it seems rather pointless.
Still having difficulties. Have a few ideas of games I can add, though, so maybe all is not lost.
More updates soon, maybe. Maybe not.

19/09/2008 - More Dune For You
Didn't find those docs I was after, so I decided to add the PC CD and Mega CD versions of Dune. The PC one is fun.
My difficulties with the other game actually never existed, it's another game I'm thinking of adding further in the future that it turns out was being difficult so — barring laziness — the former should be up tomorrow.
Really not sure what I'm going to do after tomorrow, though. There are no more easy updates, so anything further will be new games, which requires me to think of what I would like to add, along with the labourious process of actually doing so. Oh well.

18/09/2008 - Another daily update!?
Another full CD game, Betrayal At Krondor.
There's a few docs I want to add (if I can find them) for some of the other games, so that'll be tomorrow's update. Will there be an update the day after? I dunno. The other game I wanted to add is proving difficult, so I'll either have to be lucky with it, find something else to add, or not bother for a while.
That's about all for this update.

17/09/2008 - ZOMG Daily updates!
As I promised I wouldn't, the Amiga versions of both Dune and KGB are up.
There's a couple more versions of Dune I'd like to put up, but I want to add a game or two first.
Bye for now, sexy peoples.

16/09/2008 - Another broken promise
Yeah, I lied. Sorry. I know I wasn't meant to update. But I decided not to neglect anarchy completely. Maybe I should promise the opposite of what I want? Then maybe things would get done.
I've added DreamWeb. The CD version, too. Let's see how long it takes for someone to realise it's on the WWW and put it on their site without giving me any credit. Not that it's particularly hard to find. Woe is me, etc. I've also decided on the next couple games to add, and I've reviewed one, took screenshots for the other. Hopefully I will get around to adding them soon, but I promise I won't ;/
However, before I add anything new, I want to add Amiga downloads for KGB and Dune, since I've decided to be as complete as I can in that regard.
Finally, all new downloads from this point will be in 7z format, rather than self-extracting 7z. Why? I think 7z is popular enough now, and it is supported by WinRAR (for extraction at least) as well as having open source tools across major (and minor) platforms. I'm not converting the older downloads to 7z yet, but I probably will at some point.

20/08/2008 - Ads!
Ads are fun. Not really, but servers don't cost nothing, you know. Neither does rent, bills, food, or any of the other things I can't afford.
I'm a bit annoyed by the complete irrelevance of them, though. I'm not allowed to encourage people to click them, but I'm sure they are very interesting, no matter how relevant they are, you know ;/
Also I'm aware of how pointless this is thanks to the invention of ad blocking, but that was part of my rationale for having ads - anyone who doesn't like them can block them, and probably already is.
Finally, no updates to anarchy for a while (as if there were any anyway...) as I'm working on something else (abandonware related) if voh ever gets his arse in gear with my design :D I'll let you know when it's up, not that anyone reads this.

30/03/2008 - Air Havoc Controller Revisited
I noticed a few months ago that Conspiracy has ended up on other abandonware sites. I'm all for the sharing of games, but it takes the piss a bit where you get a somewhat rare game up, then within a couple of months, it's not rare anymore.
Well, anyway, an awesome fellow who goes by the name of Thomusic sent me the full NRG image of Air Havoc Controller. He isn't very talkative. All he said was "i have", with "air havoc" as the subject. I said thanks and stuff, but he didn't respond. I've converted it to an ISO file for compatibility with non-Nero burning software.
Since I'm on Vista x64 and can't run 16bit applications (boo), could someone grab it and let me know if it's all in working order, virus free, etc.? Thanks.
I'd also like to make a huge shout out to the guy who runs Abandonware DOS, as it's the best new site I've seen in ages. He seems like a nice guy, too. Download Bloodnet off him, because it is an awesome game that I should have up here by now. I usually add it. Hmm...

09/12/2007 - Fun with the UNIX command line
I was wondering how many people had downloaded stuff from anarchy, and since I don't track this in any way, was a bit perplexed at how to find out.
So I just grep'd through lighttpd's access log, and piped it into wc -l to count the number of lines (and thus the number of downloads). So first, I found out how far back my logs go:
root@c0ck:/var/log# head -1 access.log *.*.*.* www.c0ck.org - [29/Apr/2007:18:33:36 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 403 345 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3"
Or in English: Around half six PM on the 29th of April, 2007. Then, for example to find out how many people have downloaded Dune since then:
root@c0ck:/var/log# grep "downloads/dune.exe" access.log | wc -l 81
UNIX is fun. From least to most, then, my downloads. Generally, lower numbers were added later and thus people have had less chance to leech them. Also, Darklands for example has actually only been downloaded once, because one of those times was me testing the links. Also things like people resuming downloads or whatever will mean they are not 100% accurate.
In reverse order:
- Darklands has been downloaded twice.
- Eight people have downloaded Terra Nova
- Blockade has been leeched 27 times
- 54 people want to be spies and downloaded KGB
- 73 people struggled with getting Air Havoc Controller to work
- 81 people have downloaded Dune, and rightly so.
- A staggering 114 people ignored my warnings about Conspiracy not being worth the extra download size!
That's a total of 359 downloads, and just to prove it:
root@c0ck:/var/log# grep "downloads/.*.exe" access.log | wc -l 359
Also, I'm very glad that the walkthroughs I made for Dune and KGB have been downloaded a total of 174 times - 80 for KGB, 94 for Dune - as they took bloody ages to write up. I hope you appreciated them :)

07/12/2007 - Darklands
I added Darklands today because it's really really good (ok, the real reason is that I didn't have any RPGs on the site and I already had this on my hard drive, because it's really really good). I think you should download it and play it.
Oh, and this is also to prove that you can keep on top of your abandonware site and have a life, too. Not just to get me in Bunny's pants. That's just a bonus. A very nice bonus. Ok, maybe that's the real reason and the bonus is showing that it's possible to have a life and update yer site, you lazy bastards.
I currently have some ideas flowing around my brain. Maybe they'll turn into something tangible. Or maybe not :D
Oh, and Piney Gir rules.

04/12/2007 - Terra Nova
Bunny - who is so much more determined than me to keep her rather excellent site maintained, as well as Abandoned Places - said we should have sex next time she's in Europe in exchange for me updating anarchy once in a while. That seems like a fair deal to me.
I've added the full CD of Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, an awesome power-armour game. That should be a good way to show my appreciation.
Hopefully I'll keep on top of things and update a bit more often :)

29/04/2007 - New URL
Finally got around to getting a proper URL sorted (it's been what, 8 months?) after registering a new domain and migrating from apache to lighttpd (which I suggest most anyone with a webserver do). Anyway, the old URL no longer works, it just points straight to c0ck.org now (which currently does nothing).
I also removed the TART link since they no longer exist. I'll try to add a new game soon, but I promise nothing as I've got a few other c0ck.org projects being worked on and a busy (not partciularly in a good way :() life.

08/10/2006 - KGB
I've added KGB, as well as it's re-released CD version, Conspiracy. I'd recommend saving me some bandwidth and just getting KGB though.
Oh, and I wrote a walkthrough for it, too, which again, took bloody ages to write up.
-- Knyght
05/10/2006 - Blockade
I've added Blockade, an old shareware game. It's good, go look at it.
Also, I wonder where the spirit of the community went? It barely exists anymore, everywhere seems to have their own community. I'm not sure I agree with it. I'd like to tackle this, but I wouldn't know how. Suggestions?

04/10/2006 - Air Havoc Controller
Hi there, I've added Air Havoc Controller - rather obviously, an air traffic control game. Check it out.

01/10/2006 - News
Not much of an update today, but I've added a link to the Dune manual, and I've written up a walkthrough (that took me ages so be grateful).
I've also refactored the code a little and enabled gzip compression, so it should be a bit faster for those on slower connections.

29/09/2006 - Welcome
Looks like I'm back. I've had some extra time available, so here I am. While I can't promise that anarchy won't end up like BSOD gaming and Divide by Zero - entirely forgotten about in a week or so - I will try to keep it updated as often as possible with new (old!) games.
The focus of the anarchy has changed with this incarnation (it had none before), so please be sure to check out the about page. Also, you might note that the faq is rather empty, having not been asked anything yet, so please contact me if you have any questions (hyperlinks ahoy!).
Also, I apologise for the lack of domain name. I'm penniless. I'll get one sorted out in the next few weeks. I won't be adding any more games for a few days, either, since I need to refactor a lot of the code, because it, uh, sucks. Sucks real hard.
